Our Process

The Hinchley & Company Process Works for You

The Planning Process

Initial Consultation

Your financial professional becomes your long-term partner when it comes to you and your money. Careful thought and assessment are required in choosing this professional. During your initial consultation with Hinchley & Company, we will make sure to set aside time for you to evaluate our advising qualifications.

Take this opportunity to ask questions about our background and experience, professional credentials, areas of knowledge, compensation arrangements, or anything else you believe is important. We want to make every opportunity for you to compare us to your own professional requirements or to other firms. After all, we’re confident we will look best by comparison!

In the initial consultation, we will also begin gathering information about your unique financial situation. We will carefully measure your five interdependent financial systems: investments, insurance, taxes, legal, and debt. We will be gathering information from your investment statements, insurance policies, recent debt statements, prepared legal documents, and even tax returns. Please rest assured we take great care in protecting the privacy of this information for you. Read our privacy policy.

Planning Consultation

Based on the information you’ve shared at the initial consultation, Hinchley & Company will prepare a proprietary financial analysis that specifically addresses your needs and concerns. Our report will:

  • Confirm the personal/financial data and goals used to create the plan.

  • Give you a clear, concise picture of your current net worth.

  • Evaluate in detail where your strengths and weaknesses are in all five financial areas.

  • Project where you are headed financially.

  • Present you with recommendations that enhance your strengths and eliminate or reduce your weaknesses.

  • Clearly explain why certain recommendations are being made.

Most of our clients consider this meeting to be one of the most enlightening professional consultations they ever had. It projects your “financial life” in a manner you may not have seen before.

Implementation of Your Financial Strategies

Given the complexity of taxes, investments, debt instruments, and insurance options, the recommendations consultation will typically be a series of two, three, and sometimes more meetings. We will thoroughly cover your financial needs and introduce concepts that might be new to you. We want to make sure you fully understand how our recommendations are designed to enhance your long-term financial goals.

The best conceived plan will do no good without action. Hinchley & Company, with the support of outside vendors and related professionals, will efficiently and effectively assist you step-by-step in implementing your financial plan. Our administrative service works to help save you time and aggravation and will include, but won’t necessarily be limited to, items such as:

  • Completion of required insurance, investment, and financing applications.

  • Arranging medical exams required for insurance.

  • Prompt delivery of applications to vendors.

  • Scheduling and coordinating meetings with attorneys.

  • Placing and following up on investment trades and retirement plan rollovers.

  • Assist you in organizing and understanding your investment statements.

After the Planning

Once you’ve come this far in the financial planning process, you will have discovered Hinchley & Company’s goal is to provide a wealth of financial information, guidance, and wisdom. Many of our clients enjoy the benefits of:

  • Periodic phone or email contact, just to make sure nothing is missed.

  • The ability to call anytime, without cost, about any tax or financial concerns.

  • A periodic meeting (usually annual) to review your progress.
